Our first hunt with our new Garrett Infinium LS Pulse Induction Detector. We’re not really beach hunters and we actually purchased the detector for prospecting, but as part of our “Operator Training” we headed to a local beach to put the Infinium through its paces. The Infinium is fully waterproofed to a depth of 200 feet, but we’re not diving on any shipwrecks this trip. Thanks for watching and happy hunting.

On November 13th I went metal detecting at my neighbor’s house, which was built in 1695. I decided to focus on an area that I hadn’t detected much. I had been digging miscellaneous pieces of trash all day, when I got a sold penny/zinc-penny signal at about 4 inches deep. When I dug down, staring me right in the face was a big gold ring. This was my 2nd gold ring of 2011 and my 3rd in one year. When I went home to clean it up, I saw that it was from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy – Class of 1965. On the inside I read the initials “JPD”. When I saw that I knew what I had found. I found my neighbor’s class ring. The next day, I brought it over to my neighbor and returned it to him. He was pretty happy to have his ring back and I actually received a reward. The reward consisted of a few old coins, and some finds my neighbor’s brother made while he stayed here for a month and detected. Today when I was detecting, although I didn’t find much, I had an encounter with a 10 point buck and a doe. The buck got pretty close to me before it ran away. That was something I will never forget. The ring was a great find, but I’m glad that I returned it back to my neighbor.

Hi everyone, I went out to a metro park on March 23rd and did some detecting on a few sledding hills, the first hill i hunted, i dug two 1941 mercury dimes that were only around 21/2 three inches deep, so it was a good start to the evening hunt, i detected the area for another hour and just a few clad coins. I kinda moved around to the different hills detecting, and the only other older coin was a wheat penny. I left the sledding hills and went over to the other side of the park, and detected a area where i have pulled a few silver coins in the past…with no luck. Went back down to the Huron river with a detecting buddy, he hunted the river while i detected the river bank. I was using the Garrett GTI 2500 today, we spent three hours detecting. I had a total of 22 coins for the day, best finds of the day came late into the hunt. My keepers were a 1950 silver franklin half dollar, 1905 Indian head penny, and the first coin of the day was a 1932 Canadian penny, so it was a pretty good day out.
