Here’s some unedited video side-by-side comparisons of the 2 detectors I own. Most of you know by now, that I’ve had an on going complaint with Garrett about the depth of the Garrett AT Pro. But it’s not so much about the depth as it is filtering. Sure the AT Pro air test are great, but I’ve shown by putting that coin in a hole, you can lose half it’s depth. NOT EVERYONE HAS THIS PROBLEM!! Read that last line again. I have an on going email with Garrett about this issue and all they tell me to do is: 1) Send us your unit and we’ll check it out (Did this twice). 2) Bury a coin for a month (I did 4 months) and check to see if detector hits coin ( AT Pro couldn’t find 8″ silver half). 3) What do the bench test say? ( This email reply came today). Hears the thing. Everyone, everywhere is going to have different test results depending on soil. Period. There’s nothing the detector can do “if” it doesn’t have the technology built into the unit to filter minerals out. Look at www.dankowskidetectors.com test results. He gets better depth, but talks about some problems. My air test were great. Just like Garrett showed on their video. The one that made me want to buy the AT Pro. But Garrett never, ever does in-field depth test or field test. Sure, they put the coins in a test garden, but they didn’t get their soil from Council Crest here in Portland. Man, that soil is bad. 11/13/11 Dad and I hit 2 places for about a 4hr hunt. It paid off big time for him. Lady luck wasn’t on my side today but maybe next time. He whooped me good and my moral was down but thats just all part of the hobby! Just gotta keep diggin! ****Simple Question…If we were gonna fake it, wouldn’t we use a worn coin? (not a shiny one) I told Dad that some people may think we “salted” that dollar. His responce was “I dont care what they think”. Later he made a good point,…we would never do such a thing and I think our core group of subscribers know this. However if we WERE gonna do something that low, we woulda used a well worn/tarnished dirty looking dollar to do it with. Not a perfect shiny coin. People wouldnt believe it if the coin was in such good shape. The perfect condition of that coin should show we made no attempt to fake it. Its how it was out the ground. The coin is a legitimate find. You just never know what your gonna dig up. Good Luck to all you out there!
