On New Years Eve I went metal detecting at the old home site where i found my first Mrogan Silver Dollar in the summer, then i went to a old textile mill built in 1900. I also found so cool finds today.

Went out metal detecting for civil war relics and old silver coins with my friend Hank The Dog @ a Confed campsite. Hank is a lucky dog. Made several round ball & fired civil war lead finds, a couple of minie balls, a button etc. Hunted along an old road/trail that existed during the war. Got very lucky – a 1853 Seated Libery Half Dollar with my Fisher Labs F75 ltd.. Thanks for watching. cch

Here is a video of one of my metal detecting adventures. I hunt along the RR and give a little bit of a history lesson, and find some neat relics. I hope you enjoy.

In this episode, we find ourselves in Virginia in the middle of the site of a large Civil War Union Army winter camp. Here we have located an old corduroy road bed at about 4 feet down, give or take a foot or two. On this beautiful day many remnants of the Civil War would be unearthed. So grab your shovel and come join the dig! This is the one that I submitted recently into a film contest. Thanks goes out to everyone that gave me suggestions on which clips to use. Went out a few days ago metal detecting for civil war relics, old silver coins and artifacts in Louisiana. Found some and some old stuff too. Yoda found a cool Mail lock and I found a very old ford wheel hub. We found a few relics too. Good to get out. Thanks for watching. cch

Today, Jan. 28, 2012, I recovered two Large Copper Coins from a Homesite that was first occupied in the mid 1700′s ….. This is the site where I recovered an 1864 “2 Cent Piece” last year. I came with my shovel to locate and dig the trash pits on the property, and began the hunt with a quick concentrated Scan of a small area of ground right next to and just south of the Cellar Hole with my metal detector….. After about an hour, and digging every signal that I detected, I found a very old large Copper Coin that needless to say, put the Trash pit dig on hold for the rest of the afternoon till another day. I’ve hunted this site about 18 more times since I found that “2 Cent Piece” last year and found nothing but Bullets and a few Coins from the 1940′s and 50′s …… these later date Coins were probably dropped by Deer Hunters who hunted this ground back then. Other than that, “Nothin but Bullets”… The place is loaded with Bullets … Very old Bullets from the late 1700′s and 1800′s. The home that stood there, finally collapsed in 1910 and was owned along with the large piece of land that surrounds it, by the same Family and and later Generations until 1900 …. It is State Land today and only the Cellar Hole remains . With no substantial coin results since last year, I had to rethink my hunting techniques because I knew that people lived on that site for well over a hundred years, and in that time had to have dropped more coinage ….. There were a lot of unused …
