I replied to this hours ago, so if this is doubled, please understand. Please read, “The Urban Treasure Hunter” by Michael Chaplan. In chapter 4, he talks about the hazards you can face during this hobby. Not that I will stop, but it is good to be aware. Men have a bit more of an advantage in secluded areas or bad neighborhoods. Not that they don’t need to be careful, but women need to use extra caution. SCdigger, thank you for the vids! :)

I’m a lady. I just started my hobby, and currently reading: The Urban Treasure Hunter. Chapter 4 discusses the hazards of working out in the field, especially alone. If you are a man, you have a bit more advantage. My city(in New England) is RICH with history, but the best historic areas are in the now bad neighborhoods. It wouldn’t be save to be digging in those areas, even for a group of guys. I highly recommend this book by Michael Chaplan. SCDigger, thank you for the vids!

Good question…maybe it has something to do with dirt or something! Seriously, there were actually a fair number of women at this his hunt…some there on their own and just with husbands…guess it’s one of the world’s great mysteries! Thanks for watching

Very good video. Just an observation—why does it appear to be a male dominant hobby? I would love to get in to it, but I see mostly men in these outings. Is this the case? Thanks.
