Metal Detecting & Fishing With The Family – www.metaldetectorX.com – Metal Detecting, Fishing and Guns (Public Open Carry Day For Dad) – Today I am sporting the Springfield XD40, 13 rounds (one in the chamber) & 12 rounds on the belt. Springfield XD9 on the wife. (16 rounds) Today was our first public open carry, metal detecting and fishing outing. Think people are afraid or intimidated by people with guns? Think again. At least a dozen people flocked to talk to us, stood by our side, let their kids talk to us etc. It was almost surreal, as not one person asked us about our guns. There were three grandmas, a few different couples and at least a half dozen kids. With the entire beach empty, they all flocked to come sit down next to us. All of them from the city. Today was free state park fishing and permit day. Anyone could fish without a license or park permit. I caught a glance of another metal detector user in action on the main beach. That was our original destination, but, I didn’t want to bust on the guy’s groove. Note No, I don’t need a sand scoop or other beach hunting tools, so please save your advice for someone who does that sort of thing. I hit the beach less than half dozen times a year. I’m content with my operation in all environments.
