Metal Detecting an old Baseball field

millenniumdawg asked:

My first Metal Detecting outing of 2009. I went to a ball park that has been filled. The coins are pretty deep, seldom shallower than 5″.

I wasn’t aware they had quit selling them…Garrett now makes one. I guess when this one dies, I’ll go that route.

Thanks for the video. I usually cut a 3sided plug and put the dirt on a towel when working a park. Then i just lift up the towel from both ends and pour the dirt back into the hole and flip the plug back over and tamp it down. Usually can’t tell anyone’s ever been there. Doesn’t work though if the ground’s too dry, the plug will just fall apart. Thanks again, nice finds.

Yep…made it 30 years ago…a garden trowel, bicycle handle bars with grip, and the back is reinforced with 1/8 steel rods. Works perfectly and has never broken.
